Ligands include acetylated and oxidized LDL, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, apoptotic cells, amyloid-beta fibrils, and advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Note that many gene products that are called scavenger receptors have a broad range of potential ligands and also can be annotated to ‘pattern recognition receptor activity ; GO:0038187’ or its child terms, or to ’lipoprotein receptor activity ; GO:0030228’ or its child terms. For receptors that transduce a signal rather than endocytose their ligand, consider instead the terms ‘signaling receptor activity ; GO:0038023’ and its children.
